I noticed it was time for a change

Last week I gave my 4 weeks’ notice. By the end of that 4 weeks, I’ve been working 15 months for my current (or is it previous now?) employer. I was planning to be longer than that, preferably over 2 years. But like always, not everything works out as planned in life.

That is not to say that I did not enjoy my time there. Not at all. I did enjoy working there for the most part of that 15 months. It just happens that I got a really good offer from somewhere else and on top of that I even get to work with my new favorite technology stack. And for that, I couldn’t be happier.

Changing a job is always a tad stressful time and even though I don’t really stress out about anything I’d be lying if I’d say that I feel completely calm. There’s definitely butterflies in my stomach but in a good way. I already do know what I am going to be working on and that’s really exciting. Knowing that the website is going to be used by a lot of people sure does make one feel that the work one does is important.

Part of me feels sad about leaving but even bigger part is excited about these new opportunities. Still, it wasn’t an easy decision. Should I leave a perfectly fine job and dive head-first to the unknown? Am I ready for another probation period? Is it worth quitting now and losing all my vacation days? Am I ready to be working on something this big? In the end, the answer to all of these questions was yes and I decided to move on.
